The Laboratory of Viral Zoonotics (LVZ) focuses on cross species transmission of viruses, and the co-evolution of viruses and their hosts including the evolution of immune mechanisms of disease, disease resistance and prevention. We have designed and run a state of the art Containment Level 3 (CL3) laboratory at the University.
In CL3, one can work with microbes that can cause serious and potentially lethal disease such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, West Nile virus, SARS coronavirus and many others.
The University of Cambridge requires that anyone working at Containment Level 2 or 3 must be appropriately trained and will require evidence of this training.
If you wish to use our containment level 3 facilities for your work, please fill out this form. Any queries should be directed towards Barbara Blacklaws.
Pricing for the use of the facility is available upon request.
The department also has sequencing facilities on-site which may be available for use.
